The Cup and Saucer - 203

“The Cup and Saucer”, 4″x4″, oil on gessoboard, ©2013 Heather Hingst Bennett

At first I thought I hadn’t learned anything after painting 200 paintings. I felt that I hadn’t improved much, but when I painted this I started feeling the light bulbs go on. Painting a cup and saucer at this angle has caused me a bit of frustration in the past, but I think I got it mostly right this time. Unfortunately, the values have all turned out very similar. That’s why there is always another painting.

Happy Monday!

The owner of this mitten went back to school today! Albeit he hasn’t worn it in 9 years and I can’t find the other one!

SLIPCOVER UPDATE: It’s coming along and looking good. The project is going a little slower than I thought it would. I highly, highly recommend the slipcover tutorials on Miss Mustard Seeds blog. Go over there and check it out! It’s really good and FREE!

It's been pretty quiet over here. I've been busy in the studio AND getting paintings ready to ship! Black Friday went really well over on ebay. Yeah! Thank you all so much for your support!

No. 178 - SOLD

"Pink Shock"
4"x4"x1", oil on cradled hardboard

Well, I bet you weren't expecting to see me around here so soon!!

Yes! I got a painting done today! I thought about it last night and knew I had to paint today. I saw this nail polish while running errands and knew it was going to be my model today! I just knew it! :)

As you can see in the pictures, I am using a 1″ cradled hardboard panel. It’s really nice and won’t even need to be framed. I think this is the way I’m going with my paintings in the future.

My husband keeps telling me I should sometimes sell the item that I paint along with my painting. What do you think of that? Want to buy an original painting with a bottle of nail polish?
